Are you just an Equine Photographer?

No, I specialise in Equine photography as horses have a special place in my heart and have been a huge part of my life for over 30 years. I am however more than happy and equipped to capture images of your dog, cat, cows, tortoises and everything in between. I also do family and business photography too.

What happens when I book my photoshoot?

After recieving a deposit of 50%, I will secure your chosen date for your photoshoot, and we will decide a date and schedule your Pre-Consultation.

The remaining balance is due before the date of your photoshoot - this can be paid via payment plan.

I do not have any nice location for the images - is it still worth investing in a photo session?

Absolutely. With a bit of imagination, most locations are suitable for photo shoots so long as they are safe and you have the permission to be there. Local woodland or a country estate, for example, give wonderful backdrops for your images. Alternatively, stable and yard blocks can often make for interesting image. If you cannot think of anywhere I have a number of locations open for me to use so just ask and we can look at the best options for you.

What happens after the photoshoot?

I will sort through and edit your images, which all take about 2-3 weeks. After this time, they will be ready for a personal viewing in which you can view the entire gallery in a beautiful slide show to music. From there we will make a favourites selection and discuss how you would like your images presented. If you are a long distance away from me, you can opt to have your images uploaded to a private on-line gallery and we can schedule a video meeting.

How many pictures do you normally take?

I take on average about 300 pictures. These are then whittled down to the best images of the day and fully edited to the highest standards. Most people end up with over 60 photos to choose from. The rest are deleted.

I’m not local to you can you still do my photoshoot

Yes, it’s not a problem I’m happy to travel! The first 40 miles of travel is included in your package and additional travel is charged at 40p a mile. Costs can be split you want to arrange group photographs. For example if a pony club wants to hire me for the day.

May I change outfits?

Absolutely! I normally recommend 3 outfits. Overall, you should wear something you feel comfortable in. Just remember to think safely when choosing your outfit- sensible shoes should be worn to protect your toes from hooves if you’re having an equine shoot! And riding hats are recommended.

What should my horse/pet wear?

Horses can be turned out as though they are going to a show. I think they look smartest in a leather bridle or headcollar. (Please don’t forget to give the leather a quick wipe down prior to the shoot!) Nylon headcollars don’t always look great! Please have your saddle handy (and clean!) if you are wanting mounted shots but aren’t happy bareback. A neutral-coloured lead rope or one to match your outfit is advised if your horse will be wearing a headcollar. If you and your dog want to wear matching jumpers or coats, I’ll happily photograph that too.

Where should I have my photos taken?

Most commonly I photograph horses and their owners where the horse is kept. If you have another location in mind, such as at home, woodland, farmland, or the beach I’d be happy to photograph there too! One thing to think about is how much is going on in the background? Lots of fencing, muck heaps, stationary objects can often make a photo look very distracting and harder to edit out. Family and dogs are often shot at home or in a favourite location of yours.

What if I own more than one horse/animal?

If you are lucky enough to own more than one horse, dog cat or another animal, I am happy to photograph you with them individually as per a normal photo shoot. I can then photograph you with both/all of your animals. However, time with each animal will be less than if you were having an individual horse photographed, so that we can fit everything to the session time.

Can my partner and children be in the photograph too?

Of course! Pets are part of the family, so I am more than happy for other members to be included. I’m very flexible in my approach to this. I’m happy to split the time between taking a few shots of you all as a family and then a couple with the people individually with the pets. Special requests can usually be accommodated for so please get in touch!

I don’t want to be in the photos!

My approach to photoshoots is that they should be enjoyable! I am relaxed and patient and treat everyone as an individual. If you really don’t want to be in the photos, please take a look at the black background mini shoots. My style of photos are very natural, I aim to capture you enjoying your horse! The focus of the shoot is to capture the relationship between you and your horse so don’t miss out on the chance of capturing those memories you will treasure forever! You don’t need to be a model to make the most of the shoot: I will guide you through how to stand and where to position your hands to make the shots look as beautiful as possible so that you don’t even need to look at the camera so you won’t know you're having your photo taken!

How do I pay?

I ask for a 50% deposit prior to your photoshoot. This can either be paid via bank transfer, cash, or card payment the remaining balance is payable the day before the shoot unless you wish to pay in full in advance. The deposit secures your booking date. Payment can also be made using a payment plan if you prefer.

What happens if it rains?

I always contact people a few days before their shoot to check if they have any last-minute questions and to confirm details and locations. If the forecast doesn’t look promising, I will contact you to see what you’d like to do, albeit us chancing the shoot or rescheduling for another day. If you turn up at the yard on the day of your shoot and your horse is lame/unwell please contact me at the earliest opportunity you have and we can re-schedule your shoot for another time.

Can I share the photos on Facebook?

You may share the link to your photos/blog post on Facebook. You can purchase low-res versions of your photos for you to share on social media. (They aren’t good enough to be printed) Images cannot be lifted off my website and shared on social media! I upload a handful of favourite images to my business page on Facebook. You are welcome to share these photos/set them as your profile/cover photo but you mustn’t remove the watermark. When sharing my photos you must give me credit for them as I hold the copyright to the image.

If people want to buy me prints as a present, can they?

Absolutely! I can either provide them with a gift voucher to give to you for a specific amount or specific item/package of items. to order your photos as a gift.

Do you only cover Lincolnshire?

No, I am more than happy to travel anywhere in the UK! Fuel is charged at 40p per mile outside the Lincolnshire border.
